A Word from Kristina Netherland | LMHC, LPC, MAC, NCC, QS

My philosophy of therapy is grounded in a person-centered approach that recognizes each individual as the expert of their own lived experience. I believe healing occurs most effectively when clients are met with empathy, respect, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. Establishing a therapeutic environment where individuals feel safe, seen, and heard is foundational to meaningful clinical work.

I integrate brief, solution-focused psychotherapy with person-centered principles to help clients identify strengths, develop insight, and build practical coping strategies that can be applied in daily life. Treatment should be purposeful, collaborative, and focused on helping individuals regain a sense of autonomy and hope while moving toward sustainable emotional wellness.

Equally important is active client engagement within the therapeutic milieu. As an administrator and Clinician, I believe that healing does not occur solely within individual therapy sessions but also through meaningful participation in a supportive, structured community of care. A program environment that models respect, accountability, and compassion allows clients to practice new skills, build confidence, and reconnect with others in healthy ways.

My clinical philosophy also embraces a whole-person approach to care, recognizing that mental health cannot be separated from physical health, emotional experiences, social relationships, and family dynamics. Whenever possible, I encourage family involvement and collaborative support systems, as these relationships often play a vital role in long-term recovery and stability.

Ultimately, my goal as an Administrator and clinician is to help individuals feel grounded, empowered, and capable of change. By fostering safety, engagement, and authentic connection within treatment, clients can begin to rebuild trust in themselves, strengthen their resilience, and move forward with a greater sense of purpose and well-being.
